Astone Collection

The wonderful union of art, craftsmanship, advanced technology and high-end lighting. That’s what the Astone Collection strives for. In addition to the already familiar materials such as bronze, brass and glass, we are now adding a fourth durable material: natural stone. This noble material makes each product unique. No two pieces are the same. Each product begins as a solid block of stone. This is chiseled, ground and milled into a beautiful shape and is incomparable. Each block tells its own story, the veins, the colors, the textures.. All orchestrated by the forces of nature millions of years ago. The result is a beautiful composition of stones and minerals admired by all. Working closely with our in-house designer and one of the world’s leading natural stone companies, we transform these treasures of raw materials into unique and high-quality design lighting. The Astone collection allows us to be creative with colors, textures and shapes.

New Flatspot finishes

If you are looking for a more natural finish for your spotlights, we’ve got you covered! We are kicking off the new year with some new finishes. Choosing the right finish for your space is now even easier with more additions to our range. We are adding 8 new elegant and innovative colors to our wide selection of high-quality finishes. These new lacquered finishes are available on models from our Flatspot collection. In addition to the already well-known white and black finishes you can now choose from a wide palette of natural tones. Flatspot was created in 2009 due to the increasing demand for functional indoor lighting. Tekna recognized the challenge and developed Flatspot, a lighting range consisting of a wide assortment of spotlights with unique features. Ordinary spotlights illuminate only one specific area. We're proud to announce that our new "Lúmmi" lamp is 100% plastic free and the fitting is made entirely out of glass, something that has never been done before. Characteristic patina

From the moment of first touch, your lighting fixture comes to life. Slowly, a beautiful characteristic patina forms that makes your Tekna fixture personal, but most importantly, unique.  For those of you who are not familiar with this term. Patina is a dull corrosion layer that forms on a bronze surface as a result of oxidation of the metal when exposed to air and moisture. This can occur when you place bronze appliances outside. The patina layer forms a natural protection of the bronze material which in this way prevents the material from rusting. This process is perfectly normal and is considered a very special feature. This sets us apart from third parties who prefer banding and lacquering to the use of natural materials. Tekna always uses brass as the base material, which is then coated with bronze. If you prefer not to have a natural patina, you can choose to maintain your fixture on a week-by-week basis. You can do this by using our cleaning kit which contains the necessary materials. By regularly brushing the fixture off and providing it with a new wax layer you will slow down the process.  The process of patination can be enhanced by a variety of environmental factors, this partly determines the required maintenance time. These include the impact of coastal areas, (acid) rain, wind, dust particles and to a lesser extent UV radiation from the sun. Tekna also features a finish called Acid Green. In this finish, we have chemically accelerated this oxidation process. This creates the green layer on the Spreaderlight, for example. This type of finish is very popular for those who love this natural appearance, but would like to have this effect from the very first moment.

First appearance on national TV

Tekna was chosen as a guest in the television program Wooninspiraties on the national television channel VTM. As an expert in decorative lighting, Maxim Blijweert, CEO, gave a short presentation on the key points of decorative lighting and the choice of materials. Tekna's handmade lighting products can be found all over the world, from Dubai to the Netherlands. It's therefore one of our goals to put our brand more strongly on the world map every day. We distinguish ourselves with the unique combination of traditional methods with a timeless character. All lighting fixtures are designed, produced and assembled by hand here in Europe. This way you don't only buy a lighting fixture but also a powerful story, which makes it a truly valuable product.  To give our decorative design lighting an extra level of finesse and detail, we mount the glassware with custom designed ledges. These ledges are made of durable brass and bronze plated for a beautiful look. We prefer soldering to gluing, this enhances the artisanal aspect of the manufacturing process. By adding these ledges, we transform the minimalist design into a romantic and more authentic one. We are extremely proud of this exclusive system. Each fixture is produced with the utmost care and precision as a personal work of art. For fixtures like Mercer and Stockles, we work with over 20 individual glass rods that are placed one by one by hand. Through this method and selection of materials, we create a beautiful optical illusion of both light and glass. We give the production the time it needs and make every effort to deliver a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.  "When you choose decorative lighting, you do so to create a certain atmosphere, both inside and outside. The challenge is to find lighting that exudes the desired look, even when switched off. "
